Founded in 1997 and based in Dresden, Germany, the DKMS Life Science Lab became part of the DKMS Group in 2001. As the world’s leading HLA typing laboratory, our lab carries out typing according to the latest scientific standards and has achieved numerous milestones.
A pioneer in the field of hematopoietic stem cell donor and transplant typing
We always strive to develop new and innovative processes. With the adaption of the NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) method, for example, we have been able to increase the number of processed samples to well over one million per year! At the same time, this has significantly reduced the typing costs per sample.
Our highly qualified and motivated staff includes internationally recognized specialists in genotyping and related technologies. Every day, 170 employees work to continuously expand our typing profiles to ensure effective donor matching and to fulfill our mission to give as many blood cancer patients as possible a second chance at life.
Quality management and quality assurance
Quality plays a key role at our lab: From stringent controls and internal audits to the participation in external proficiency tests that independently confirm the high quality of our typing, we always strive to perform according to the highest standards. Our team of quality management and quality assurance experts ensures all of that. Accordingly, we are accredited by the two leading organizations of immunogenetics and transplant immunology:
EFI certificate no.04-DE-022.978 / European Federation of Immunogenetics
ASHI certificate no. ASHI # 09-9-DR-02-1 / American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
At the DKMS Life Science Lab, we provide genotyping services focusing on stem cell donor files and registries, transplant centers or research groups and we offer different options to meet individual requirements.
