EMDIS Connection to DKMS Registry

EMDIS (European Marrow Donor Information System), a platform for computer-based registry communication, currently unites 44 registries in one single virtual international registry.

EMDIS connection

In June 2018, the DKMS (HUB DR) joined this network. Since then, connections to more and more participating registries have been established on an ongoing basis. The EMDIS network is used in a bi-directional manner:

  • DKMS Registry is responsible for the listing of donors from DKMS DE, DKMS PL, DKMS UK, DKMS CL, DKMS Africa and DKMS IN
  • Within the scope of offering search support for Chilean and Indian patients, the donor pools of other registries are searched for potential matches for these patients.

For ECS (EMDIS Communication System) message transfer between the EMDIS registries, the ESTER module of Prometheus is used.

Any specifications of the EMDIS implementation at DKMS Registry are documented in our EMDIS National Rules.
