Mononuclear Cell (MNC) Request

A Mononuclear Cell (MNC) collection can be requested for any of the following reasons: When a patient has suffered a relapse following the donation; to prevent a relapse; to combat an infection; to improve the engraftment; or to enhance transplant-versus-leukemia effects.

Our Workup Case Manager will contact the donor to organize the MNC donation. Depending on how much time has passed since the last physical examination, a new examination may be required. However, in some cases a new blood draw will suffice. Starting with the fourth MNC donation, we at DKMS require the donation to be approved by a medical advisor.

How to request MNC Apheresis of a DKMS donor

Please send your request for DKMS DE, DKMS PL, DKMS UK, DKMS CL, DKMS Africa and DKMS IN to DKMS Registry. Our PDF "Specification of Services" can be found here.

How to send a request to DKMS Registry

Via email/fax

DKMS Registry accepts requests by fax (fax no: +49 7071 943 2299) or workup@dkmsregistry.org for all services. For requests by fax or email, we recommend using WMDA forms, but we also accept other forms as long as they contain the information needed to perform the requested task.

Please submit the WMDA F20 form (Previous Transplant History) in addition to the workup forms (WMDA F10 and F30 or equivalent) when requesting an MNC Apheresis.

DKMS Registry will confirm the receipt of the workup forms. Subsequently, a DKMS Workup Case Manager of the responsible DKMS donor center will get in touch with the requesting registry or transplant center.

Via Donor Navigator®

International registries and transplant centers that are registered users of DKMS Registry’s software Donor Navigator® can and are encouraged to request DKMS donors directly through Donor Navigator®. We recommend this option if no EMDIS connection with DKMS Registry is possible.

Donor Navigator® allows a quick online completion of workup forms. Existing data, such as the transplant center, contact information and patient as well as donor information, is automatically added into the forms.

MNC Apheresis is a separate request type in the software. When requesting MNC Apheresis, the software user is asked to fill out additional fields in the online workup form regarding the patient’s transplant history.

If you are interested in receiving further details about Donor Navigator®, please follow the link to our Donor Navigator® web application.
